About this strain
The Seedstockers team is pleased to present Candy Dawg Auto, a collectible strain that will become indispensable in your collection of automatic seeds. This plant is especially suitable for those looking for an easy-to-grow strain that produces high levels of cannabinoids.
Candy Dawg Auto gets its name from its incredible appearance and its family ties to some of the great modern collectible icons. This strain is an excellent choice for any hybrid fan looking for the calming effect provided by its tasty buds, which are always able to make any day (or night) a little better.
If we add to this its excellent yield capacity and its resilience to adversity, we can say that it is a safe bet that brings together the best characteristics of the best autoflowering strains in a single plant.
What are the genetics of Candy Dawg Auto?
There aren't many three-way crosses available on the market, which makes this strain quite special. It is a potent hybrid of Candy Kush/Chem Dawg backcrossed with the remarkable OG Kush to achieve higher THC levels. If you're not familiar with the powers of these three rock stars, then it's time to introduce them to you.
Candy Kush is a collectible hybrid that combines two California classics: OG Kush (an Indica believed to be the 'Christopher Wallace' phenotype) and Trainwreck (Sativa). The result is a robust, bushy plant, typical of Indica-dominant lineages (although some phenotypes lean more towards Sativa and develop a more Trainwreck-like structure). As the name suggests, its flavour is sweet like candy, with a strong lemon/Kush aroma. Its THC levels usually range between 17 and 19%, making it a popular choice among medical growers for providing a potent physical high accompanied by pronounced pain relief.
Across the street, Chem Dawg emerges, a legendary strain with an uncertain genetic history. Although it is believed to have originated from a cross of native Sativa strains from Thailand and Nepal, many have claimed credit for creating this strain, including the story of a complicated seed exchange between growers at a Grateful Dead concert. Whatever its beginnings, Chem Dawg has become a staple of the US collectible market with its unique flavour, which includes diesel and pine nuances, and its happy, energetic high. Although its THC levels are moderate, it hits hard and fast, making it great for those who have no time to waste.
And what more can be said about OG Kush, one of the most popular strains available on the market in recent years. Although it has a name almost as popular as Super Skunk or White Widow, its origins still remain somewhat mysterious. While no one is absolutely certain, OG Kush most likely derives from a cross of Chem Dawg and Hindu Kush or Old World Paki Kush. It is an Indica-dominant hybrid known for its high THC count, which leads to intense cerebral effects, providing users with a wonderful blend of bodily euphoria and a calm, tranquil state of mind. If you've had the pleasure of smelling Seedstockers' OG Kush, you'll know it's one of the freshest aromas nature can produce.
As you can see, Seedstockers' Candy Dawg Auto was truly blessed from birth with a great combination of world-renowned parents.
Appearance of Candy Dawg Auto Buds
This plant develops dense mint-green buds with purple hues and a layer of tiny icy white crystal trichomes. Unsurprisingly, they often take on a rather bold purple background too, with shades ranging from light to dark, faint to strong. Amidst this sea of violets, you can glimpse deep neon-green sugar leaves with vivid orange pistils that stretch and curl directly towards the clouds.
These sugar leaves are also equally stunning, with tips ranging from deep purple and burgundy to coral orange, like a powerful expressionist painting. Both this richness of colour and the density of the buds help this plant stand out in any jar, bag or display case.
Aroma and Flavour
The attractive aroma of Candy Dawg Auto is perfectly balanced by a delicious taste reminiscent of sweets and fruits. The notes of pine and red berries are transferred from the nose to the palate, where fruity flavours linger (more specifically, a sweet and sour lemon taste with a rich purple grape aftertaste). During inhalation, most people notice the spicy/herbal flavour, but there is also a lingering sweetness of red berries that hits the back of the tongue; and you can even predict the citrus burst on exhalation.
The dried buds retain their syrupy blueberry sweetness, while also developing an earthy and woody aroma. When a Candy Dawg Auto bud is squeezed, the aroma it releases can be defined as earthy and spicy, with hints of pine and notes of ripe, wild fruits. This extremely aromatic strain is highly acclaimed due to its deeply layered aroma, which can be slightly different depending on the grower. One thing is for sure, the smell is amazing: it's like a bowl of syrupy wild berries in the middle of your room, which can be delightfully overwhelming.
The main terpenes of Candy Dawg Auto include myrcene, caryophyllene, and ocimene. Ocimene may be unfamiliar, but it is the monoterpene responsible for some of the most herbal and sweet aromas of certain collectible strains. In addition, it can also provide a citrus aroma to the collectible, mixed with woody undertones. Some growers even identify this aroma, after several months of curing, with that of sweet and sour pickles.
Effects of Candy Dawg Auto: Potency with Control
With a lab-measured THCA content between 15 and 20%, this strain is ideal for a wide range of users. With a THC content that can range from 20% to 26%, if you're looking for a relaxing herb that doesn't catapult you straight onto the couch, this is the one for you. It hits your brain slowly, sending bursts of energy so you can experience a highly creative session. This is a stimulating option that will not only make you feel happier, but also more focused and even hungrier.
Like rain on a tin roof at night, Candy Dawg Auto has a special way of relaxing you to the core. The high begins with a slow build-up of effects after your final exhalation, making its way into your mind with a calming boost that eases any negative or racing thoughts.
You'll find your mind feels relaxed and slightly unfocused, with a growing sense of creative euphoria that gets your mental gears turning. Try this strain if you want to work on a long-forgotten project.
You will be overcome with joy as your high continues, but prepare to come down in the best possible way afterwards. If you are sensitive to collectibles, you can expect to fall into a very deep sleep, while others may feel intensely relaxed to the point of being couch-locked.
Therapeutic Effects
Being a balanced hybrid, it can offer the best of several worlds in terms of therapeutic relief. It is most often used to treat different types of pain, and it is very good at its job. But users who often have sad nights will also be pleased to see their anxiety and depression dissolve, making space for the ability to fall asleep.
Chronic stress, the symptoms of arthritis, or even appetite problems can also be easily treated with Candy Dawg Auto, making this strain one you should always keep close at hand. Furthermore, its effects do not last very long: after an hour, you will feel them slowly begin to fade.
Growing Candy Dawg Auto
Most growers would probably agree that the difficulty level for growing Candy Dawg Auto is intermediate. The growth cycle of Candy Dawg Auto lasts about 11 weeks from seed to harvest, with a flowering period ranging between 7 and 9 weeks.
Morphology
Due to its autoflowering genetics, Candy Dawg Auto develops as a compact, yet vigorous plant, with good internodal spacing and many lateral branches that make it look like a Christmas bush. As it flowers, the internodes shorten, which causes the buds to accumulate at each internode. This leads to the development of quite thick lateral branches, full of satellite buds, which end in a very tall main cola that stands out from the rest.
This plant stands out for being extremely robust and tall for an autoflower, with flexible branches that support the weight of its above-average harvests very well. Although it is not demanding in terms of care, this strain will reward you with specimens up to 100 cm tall if you give it a little attention. In addition, the great stabilisation and development work carried out by our Seedstockers breeders ensures the production of very homogeneous plants that will help you better optimise your growing space.
Outdoor Cultivation
Candy Dawg Auto has ruderalis genes running in its veins, which contributes to its exceptional resistance to adversity and temperature fluctuations. Even so, it grows best in warm, dry climates, such as those in the Mediterranean and Californian regions, where it can reach its full potential. However, this hybrid also performs incredibly well in hotter or even colder climates, but always with the protection of a greenhouse.
As this version flowers from the 3rd or 4th week, regardless of the hours of sunlight it is exposed to, you can produce several harvests in a single season, provided the conditions are suitable. If you only want to grow once, however, plant in early summer to get the best out of it, as the greater intensity of sunlight will help it grow more vigorously. Outdoor yield can reach just over 110 grams per plant.
Indoor Cultivation
Since you don't have to worry about vertical space, the most suitable place to grow Candy Dawg Auto is indoors. Soil growing methods are probably the best for planting Candy Dawg Auto seeds, as indoor hydroponics can sometimes cause an increase in humidity. If you plan to plant in pots, always remember to use the largest possible container to avoid transplant stress. A 15-litre pot or larger is ideal. If you want to work in square metres, you can place nine 11-litre pots per square metre for the best results. Its indoor yield is usually 350-500 grams per square metre, always when exposed to a 20+ hour light cycle.
Additional Growing Tips
- Training: It is best to complete the training process during the vegetative phase. We recommend using an LST (Low Stress Training) method.
- Lighting: 24-hour lighting will result in rapid initial growth. However, an 18/6 or 20/4 photoperiod are more sensible options.
- Environment: Ideally, plants should be grown in an environment with a temperature between 20 and 25ºC, and with 50 to 70% humidity.
Cooking with Candy Dawg Auto
If you are one of those who get lost in the kitchen, the smoky notes of a barbecue sauce will combine very well with Candy Dawg Auto's dominant terpene, myrcene, adding a sweet and spicy touch to the mix. As we suggest trying this strain after a stressful day, you might also want to look for, for example, a pink grapefruit sorbet recipe to end the day like a marquess in a Hawaiian shirt.
