The journey to create Mack & Crack was a long one, but definitely worth it. Despite requiring a certain amount of care, this heavy producer never disappoints: you will be rewarded with an abundance of top-notch buds with a skunky and creamy aroma that delivers a powerful hit. Mack & Crack is derived from an impressive combination of genetics that starts with an almost legendary strain: The MAC. Also known as Miracle Alien Cookies, this genetic began with a cross of Starfighter with a special Colombian genetic. Long story short, these seeds went on quite a journey until only one of them germinated and became a male. This male was used to pollinate an Alien Cookies female, a strain that originates from a cross of Alien Dawg and Girl Scout Cookies (which is already a royal pedigree in itself). Miracle Alien Cookies was then crossed with Green Crack to produce Mack & Crack. Green Crack is a classic US East Coast collectible seed, known for its super-fast flowering and relatively potent buds that exude sweet and skunky aromas and flavours.

Mack & Crack gives off a distinctly Diesel flavour with creamy notes. It’s a refreshing funk that has just the right amount of creamy and red berry flavours to add a bit of sweetness to what would otherwise be a very skunky experience.

As it matures and produces flowers, the plant develops a robustly sweet and creamy aroma. Towards the end of flowering, a deep red berry fragrance begins to meld with the creamy smell, exuding a scent reminiscent of a freshly baked pie.

After the buds dry, unmistakable Diesel aromas begin to take centre stage. During the trimming of Mack & Crack, the characteristic 'dumpster' aromas of Sour Diesel are always present, enhanced by the still creamy and sweet undertones.

Expect a potent experience from Mack & Crack. While not heavy enough to couch-lock you, the effects of this hybrid will leave your mind buzzing and your body fully relaxed. It’s exactly the kind of strain that Indica lovers will prefer as a daytime smoke.

Mack & Crack expresses a range of phenotypes, spanning the spectrum between Sativa-leaning and Indica-dominant hybrids. Three out of six plants showed significant stretch and lateral branching, occupying a large space and reaching up to a metre in height. Although these three plants were the widest and lankiest, with the greatest internodal spacing, they were also by far the most productive.

One particularly special phenotype expressed short, dense growth patterns, with oversized calyxes completely covered in snow-white trichomes. Overall, Mack & Crack produces many sweet, skunky, and creamy flavours and smells, with each phenotype displaying a unique combination of all of them.

Some Mack & Crack phenotypes develop various shades of purple, but, overall, they have a beautiful bright green colour. The longest-flowering phenotype has a very tropical green colour, with tons of thin, red pistils. Due to the premium quality buds this genetic produces, anyone who receives a package full of it will be absolutely over the moon!

All plants yielded well over 150g. One particular phenotype (the widest specimen, which was also quite lanky and tall) struggled to support the weight of its buds and, in the end, produced 300g. It’s safe to say that Mack & Crack is a heavy producer, with the ability to generate exceptionally large buds.

This is an extremely easy and forgiving genetic to propagate. It happily accepts many nutrients but does not demand large quantities. Its excessive foliage is the only thing that needs to be managed to ensure it matures to its full potential.

Vegetative Phase

Mack & Crack takes about 4 to 4.5 weeks after germination to start flowering. During this time, it builds a strong and robust stem, with predominantly long branches that stretch significantly. Sea of Green (SOG) or Screen of Green (SCROG) methods are highly recommended for indoor cultivation to manage stretching.

Flowering Period

Although Mack & Crack phenotypes showed different levels of stretching and, therefore, developed various sizes, all began flowering at the same time, about 4 weeks after germination. While some phenotypes continued to stretch during flowering, two of them began to produce very compact and thick buds from the start. In addition to starting to flower simultaneously, all six plants were also ready for harvest at the same time (85 days after germination), except for one phenotype that needed two extra weeks. This longer-flowering phenotype also turned out to be the sweetest and most pungent of all. If you want the buds to gain extra weight and density, let certain phenotypes go up to 15 weeks.

Nutrients

These plants were grown in generic potting soil with a 1.8-2-2 composition. 1g of dolomitic lime per litre of soil was used as a source of calcium and magnesium. While they did not require any nutrients beyond those already in the soil during the vegetative phase, these plants accepted all additional nutrients given to them. Extra phosphorus and potassium are recommended during flowering to increase yields and boost potency.

Tips for Indoor or Small Space Growers

Defoliation is essential for larger phenotypes to allow enough light to penetrate the canopy and reach the inner buds of the plant. Growers in small environments should be careful not to germinate too many seeds, as some of these phenotypes can quickly outgrow the space given to them. Indoor growers will have to be prepared to play “Tetris” in their grow room to find the most efficient fit for the different shapes and sizes of these phenotypes.

Tips for Outdoor Cultivation

This collectible strain is very hardy, and although it produces compact buds, they are not so compact as to attract mould and mildew outdoors. This genetic is a smart choice for outdoor farmers who need a reliable producer of potent buds to “plant and forget”, only returning at harvest time.
