Planning to grow Madonna© Triploid? There are a few important things you should know before germinating your seeds. The recommendations below come from our own tests and feedback from growers who have already grown it. Just as different diploid varieties can behave distinctly, not all triploids share exactly the same characteristics. These observations apply specifically to the Madonna© Triploid. Growers accustomed to conventional, feminized or compact autoflowering collectible seeds should be prepared for a plant with exceptional vigour, an extensive root system, and an unusually high water demand.

Exceptional Vigour

Madonna© Triploid is an extremely vigorous variety. This is fantastic for outdoor growers who want to produce a true monster, but its rapid growth can become difficult to control when space is limited. When given plenty of root space, strong light, and a long vegetative period, Madonna can fill a surprising amount of your garden or grow room.

If you want to grow one of the largest plants in your garden, Madonna© Triploid was made for it:

• Use a large pot or plant directly into well-prepared soil.
• Give it plenty of space between neighbouring plants.
• Perform one or more apical prunings (topping) if you prefer a lower, bushier structure.
• Train and spread the branches to improve light penetration and airflow.
• Prepare branch supports before flowering begins.
• Monitor water consumption carefully during hot, sunny, or windy weather.

If you grow indoors with limited height, be careful, as Madonna can stretch quickly and easily fill a standard grow tent:

• Avoid a long vegetative period.
• Consider switching to flowering directly from the seedling stage.
• Do not use an unnecessarily large pot.
• Restrict root space if you need to limit the plant's final size.
• Start training early to keep the canopy low and uniform.
• Leave sufficient distance between the canopy and grow lights.
• Take special care with height in hydroponic systems.

Does your Madonna dry out faster than the other plants in your garden? You're probably not imagining it. A large Madonna© Triploid can consume considerably more water than many conventional collectible varieties. Even when it is approximately the same height as another plant, its wide leaves, dense branching, and extensive root system can create a much higher total water demand.

• Larger effective leaf area: Madonna develops broad leaves and dense foliage. Total water consumption depends on the full transpiring leaf area, not just the plant's height.
• A large and active root system: Its extensive root system can deplete the moist part of a pot surprisingly quickly.
• Strong environmental response: Intense sunlight, high temperatures, low humidity, and wind can quickly increase its water needs.
• Different stomatal characteristics: Madonna has larger stomata than the comparison diploid plants we examined. This may contribute to its distinct water use and rapid response to environmental changes.

What are Stomata?

Stomata are microscopic pores found primarily on the leaf surfaces of plants. They open and close to regulate gas exchange and water loss. When stomata open, the plant absorbs carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. At the same time, water vapour escapes through the leaves in a process called transpiration. Madonna has 30% larger stomata compared to diploid plants.

How do you create something truly new in collectibles? Sometimes, it starts with years of searching... and an unexpected connection. In September 2024, we had several new IBL (Inbred Line) lines ready for production. They were the result of close collaboration with some of our most trusted breeders, all working towards a clear goal: to create truly stable collectible seeds that growers could rely on, cycle after cycle.

When Science Meets Breeding

Just as we were preparing for production, we connected with a research team from the biology department of a major European university. For now, we cannot share the name, but the team includes a department head, a professor of biomedicine, and a natural scientist. For years, we had explored the idea of polyploid collectibles. The potential was clear, but the right partners were hard to find. This team already had experience developing triploids in agricultural hemp and other plant species, where polyploid breeding is used to improve uniformity, vigour, and crop reliability. What they lacked were stable, high-THC IBL genetics to take their research further.

A Shared Vision

What followed was a collaboration that seemed almost inevitable. We provided the stable IBL foundation. They brought the advanced scientific expertise in polyploid development. For both sides, it was a rare opportunity: for them, access to elite THC-rich genetics; for us, the chance to finally bring triploid collectibles to life.

Triploid Collectible Seeds are a new generation of genetics designed to produce plants with three sets of chromosomes (3N) instead of the standard two (2N).
