The original White Widow from the early 1990s circulating around Amsterdam was created by crossing genetics from Brazil and Southern India. The result is a plant that exhibits true hybrid vigour and encompasses characteristics of both indica and sativa strains. We bred our White Widow to ensure that all seeds produce female plants, and for our customers to enjoy first-hand the quality and quantity of flowers she can produce. What does the White Widow plant look like?

Feminized White Widow will grow into a medium-sized plant, with large, long, thin, serrated fan leaves. She will grow with a bushy appearance, producing a main central cola and a high volume of strong side branches.

Internodal spacing will be open and easy to train, and upon flowering, she will become exceptionally white and crystal-covered. Every leaf will be heavily resinous, and nothing is wasted when harvesting and making your hash with the trim leftovers. Expect large, robust, light green, resin-covered buds that smell of sweet, gassy hops.

White Widow seeds will grow into medium to tall plants, which can reach 125 to 150 cm in height. We recommend applying training techniques such as topping and tying down to reduce the final height before flowering. When grown in smaller pots, such as in SOG, the final height can range between 90-100 cm.

This high-yielding beast produces some of the most beautiful flowers out there, with a 10/10 visual appeal. White Widow buds are large, dripping with resin, and have a robust characteristic. On closer inspection, the trichomes are compacted, with large-sized trichome heads, perfect for hash production.

Thanks to high levels of Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Limonene, the aroma of White Widow during flowering can be described as a mix of hops and gas with sweet and citrus undertones. A very unique and complex aroma that is not the strongest, making her a great candidate for outdoor growers looking for a discreet and highly resistant variety.

Similar to the aroma during the flowering period, the taste of White Widow is a refined version of the gassy, citrus, and sweet profile. Upon inhaling, there will be an earthy citrus flavour followed by sweeter and gassier notes. Every drag from a joint or blunt lasts until the roach, leaving you licking your lips, ready for another.

We were very proud to see that our White Widow lab test came back with over 25% total cannabinoids and 18% THCA. When smoked, this lady will express her indica dominance over time, making her ideal for nighttime. Expect a strong sedative effect with therapeutic properties that can produce a couch-lock experience. Be careful if you have a low tolerance, as you may find yourself staring into space with heavy eyelids.

White Widow seeds are an excellent starting point for any beginner grower, as she can be grown in soil or hydroponics with excellent results. She is a low-maintenance strain, meaning she does not require constant care, and is a wonderful choice for hot or cold climates.

How to regulate temperature and humidity?

White Widow is a strain that tolerates higher temperatures well but does not react as well when exposed to very cold temperatures. Even when plants are exposed to temperatures above 27 °C, White Widow can continue its normal function. But she will not fare as well if you overexpose her to, say, 13 °C. Ideal temperatures for outdoor White Widow plants are above 21 °C during the day and above 16 °C at night. Indoors, you can go up to 30 °C, provided you supplement your space with carbon dioxide enrichment.

As for humidity, during germination, keep it around 70%. During vegetation, reduce it to 65%. Once she reaches flowering, start reducing humidity by up to 5% weekly until it reaches a point of 35% humidity.

How to grow White Widow outdoors?

We advise planting outdoors in spring and using large-sized pots or planting directly in the soil. White Widow loves being in greenhouses and is very resistant to strong winds, cold weather, mould, and powdery mildew. During the vegetative stage, plants will grow short and bushy, and once in flowering, they will stretch a bit, possibly doubling in size.

It is also recommended to prune and defoliate White Widow plants before flowering to allow them to use all their energy on the heavy top buds. Support is necessary due to the large size of the buds and the weight of the side branches. Plants will be ready for harvest in late September and early October, depending on where you live.

How to grow White Widow indoors?

When grown under HID lighting in a controlled indoor environment, an 18/6 cycle for 6 weeks is recommended to produce the most vigorous plants possible. If you are growing plants very close together in a Sea of Green, we advise topping at the end of week 4.

White Widow can absorb large amounts of nutrients, so giving her a high E.C. level is not a problem, and she will reward you with yields of up to 500 - 600 grams per square meter. Depending on the phenotype, mature plants will be ready to harvest between 8-9 weeks, making this a fast-flowering variety, ideal for commercial growers.

One of the reasons the Dutch were so successful with White Widow indoors is due to her incredible resilience to plant diseases and pathogens. This basically means that growers suffering from high relative humidity levels and rain do not need to worry about mouldy buds and severe powdery mildew problems.

Regarding heat stress and resistance to hot and dry climates, White Widow will thrive under such conditions and is unaffected by high temperatures and drought conditions. She is one of the toughest girls out there and can easily adapt to all climates, such as the Mediterranean, California, and South America.

The short answer is yes, and with excellent results, even for a first-time grower. Thanks to her perfect blend of indica and sativa genetics, White Widow can be easily trained over a period of 6-8 weeks using techniques such as topping, tying down, super cropping, and pruning. By combining these techniques and using a fixed screen, it is easily achievable to grow a huge plant in a small space. When grown in SCROG, yields can become enormous, allowing an indoor grower to fully maximise their growing space.

What we love about White Widow is how she has it all, and when it comes to yields, she certainly does not disappoint! Commercial-scale growers and anyone tired of low-yielding strains will find White Widow seeds very beneficial. Indoors, she can produce up to 500-600 grams per square meter, and outdoors, she is capable of producing over 750 grams per plant. During flower production, her buds are large and cluster together, creating a baseball bat-shaped main cola appearance.

Flowering time will take between 8-9 weeks, depending on the phenotype, with sativa-dominant plants requiring the longest time. There are many different phenotypes and expressions of this hybrid, and we encourage phenotype hunting to see what can be found. In some outdoor cases, some higher-yielding plants may require 9.5 weeks due to the amount of buds.

As mentioned earlier, sativa-oriented phenotypes grow as leggier plants, which would benefit indoor growers. With distinctly sativa phenotypes, the grow room is easier to ventilate, there is less risk of humidity problems or plants struggling with mould and powdery mildew. You can still implement low-stress training and keep your plants short and stout without affecting yields. The main characteristic of more indica-dominant phenotypes are the dark green leaves that appear strangely narrow, just like sativas. These plants have an even more remarkable white glow when light is refracted. Their colas still give way to amber or reddish-brown pistils when the flowers begin to mature.

Hash makers and aspiring extraction artists will find working with White Widow very rewarding. When it comes to dry sift or bubble hash, this strain will give huge returns of high-quality full melt of 70-120 microns. Extraction artists who prefer to make BHO or rosin will also be surprised by the quality of returns she offers! We advise making live resin and rosin hash for the best possible flavours and terpenes.

• Tip #1: Even though some plants may be ready in just 8 weeks, we recommend allowing your flowers to mature for at least 8 weeks, or ideally 9 weeks. If your humidity is under control, 63 days will reveal the best buds, resin, and terpenes.
• Tip #2: Topping White Widow plants during the vegetative stage is a great way to reduce the final height of the plant and create a robust, bushy plant. White Widow seeds are very easy to grow and require little maintenance. Using other techniques, such as pruning, can also bring many benefits, such as improved airflow and yield.
• Tip #3: During the last 3-4 weeks of flower production, it is a good idea to use bamboo stakes or a strong trellis net to help support the heavy side branches. Doing this in advance will save time and allow the plants to focus on growing enormous without the worry of falling over. Buds that fall due to weight are prone to pathogen attack, so adding support early is best.
• Tip #4: If you grow outdoors and face short summers and cold winters, White Widow is one of the most resilient and resistant varieties on the market. Thanks to her fast cycle time and resistance to mould and powdery mildew, you can be sure that this old-school legend will pass the test.
• Tip #5: At harvest time, you will notice that the plants are covered from head to toe in a blanket of thick resin. Avoid throwing away sugar-coated fan leaves, smaller leaves, and buds, and prepare to freeze the trim material to make bubble hash immediately after harvest.
